First Day of School!

Good afternoon-

What a great day it was today!  It was wonderful to feel the energy in the building and see students and teachers reconnecting and getting to know each other.

Students started the day in homeroom where they received an updated schedule as well as Health and Emergency Forms that should be making their way home to you.  Please help us out by asking your student for the paperwork and getting it back to the main office as soon as possible.

The traffic flow was pretty smooth this morning.  Please remember that parents drop off and pick up in back of the school.  Buses drop in the front of the school so please do not pull in between 7:00- 7:30am or 1:30-2:00pm.

Student drivers should pick up parking applications in the front office.  They are due back Friday, September 11 by the close of school.

Check out the important under Parent Flyers to the right!

Please don't hesitate to contact me or one of the Deans if you have any questions!

Important Notes from our Guidance Department:

The last day to drop or add classes to student schedules without penalty is Friday, September 18Students seeking schedule changes must sign up for an appointment with their counselor immediately.  Courses dropped from classes after September 18 will be awarded a permanent grade of "WP" (withdrawn passing) or "WF" (withdrawn failing), depending on the grade at the point of withdrawal.  This will be recorded on transcripts and become part of the permanent record, and is to be avoided at all costs.  Students will not be allowed to enroll in new classes after September 18.

The PSAT will be given here at AHS on Wednesday, October 14 beginning at 7:30 am.  Students can register in the guidance office until Friday, October 2nd.  Cost for the test is $15, paid in cash or check made out to "Ashland Public Schools".  College bound juniors are encouraged to take the PSAT, and sophomores considering it are encouraged to consult with their counselor first.  In general, sophomores currently taking Algebra II are the best candidates to consider taking it.  Students and parents are encouraged to consult your guidance counselor with any questions about the PSAT.

AHS will sponsor two College Fairs on September 17 and September 30 from 9:45 - 10:45Over 75 colleges will visit the AHS cafeteria each day with information about their programs.  Juniors and seniors will be excused from class, and parents are encouraged to attend.  Lists of participating colleges will be available in the guidance office and posted on the guidance website after September 8th.

College Night for Seniors and Families will be held on Thursday, September 17th at 7:00 pm in the Ruthfield Auditorium at AHS.  All seniors and families considering college are strongly encouraged to attend.  This session will contain different information than the one last spring, and students and parents who attended then are also encouraged to attend this.  Please contact your counselor with any questions.

Students looking for part time work are encouraged to check out the "Jobs" bulletin board in the guidance office.  Several employers are now hiring.
