January 9, 2021

Good afternoon-

I hope everyone enjoyed the snow day on Friday. Tomorrow will be a B day.

Last week was a hectic one with the rise of the Omicron cases. Students did a wonderful job overall wearing their masks. We hope as cases continue to grow students will remain vigilant and compliant.

As a reminder there is no school Friday, January 14 and Monday, January 17. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend.

Midterm exams will be administered during the last week of the term. The schedule is attached here: Exam schedule
Teachers see these assessments as opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning over the course of the semester. The exams are not meant to be overly challenging and will focus on a broad understanding of topics. Teachers will spend time over the next couple of weeks working with students to understand how to best prepare for the exams and help alleviate the stress they may be feeling. Departments have been working together to modify assessments in light of  all that has happened over the past 23 months and are looking at this exam period as a time for students to experience a larger assessment in a safe manner. Steps are being taken to prevent student grades from being harmed by midterm assessments.

We are once again excited to bring Challenge Day to AHS on February 2, 2022. It is a full day in school field trip where students learn skills to make our school community a more safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Students can sign up using the attached link: Challenge Day registration
